Tuesday Although the weather was mild, the going at Awapuni this morning was very heavy and tho times were slow. The centre is to bo well represented at Otaki and there was plenty of fast work beyond the middle of the course. Evening Glow (S. Anderson) was just in front of Rollaway (B. Brown) at tho end of fivo furlongs in 1.12. Rollaway is engaged in the Waikanao Scurry at Otaki. Man ton u (Tattersall) recorded 1.11 3-5, tho last thrco in 435. Malik Kafur (G. 11. Tattersall) and Snigger (P. Jarvis) finished half a mile together in 50s, running tho Inst three furlongs in 40s without being under pressure. Erebus (Jarvis) and Yed Prior (Anderson) were given a working gallop over a mile. They look to bo in good ordor for Saturday. Silvanus (H. Stewart) and Verey Lights (S. Waddoll) ran a mile in 1.55. After a slowly-run first furlong, they ran to the half-mile in 5G l-5s and camo homo strongly over tho last thrco in 42 2-ss. Silvanus has done well since she came to Awapuni. Seven-furlong Efforts Debretts (K. Kanalce) was speeded up over a couple of furlongs and Diamond Cutter (V. Dye) ran the last fivo of seven furlongs in 1.12. Colonel Bogey (Tattersall) and Quadroon (M. Bowden) beat Aurora's Star (W. Jenkins) over seven furlongs in 1.39 2-5. They left to an oven start, Quadroon, on tho outer, being about a length behind tho others when they had travelled half a mile in 57 2-ss. A few yards from tho post Aurora's Star looked a likely winner, but Quadroon and Colonel Bogey shot ahead and Hashed over the lino together. The last three furlongs took 425. Colonel Bogey and Aurora's Star appear to be in great order for the Oliau Handicap at Otaki. Sunbeam (Kihnistor), Renaseor (Dye) and Seyfried (D. McGregor) wero companions in a seven-furlong gallop in 1.40 2-5, which was very satisfactory time. ' Aureus (Jenkins), who is now in N. Voitre's charge, had Raelnirn (McGregor) as a companion over a fastrun live furlongs. Aureus went smoothly to finish in front in 1.9. Sporting Gift to Resume Peach King was, to have gone with Sporting Gift (Kanakc) for the last five of six furlongs, but he failed to pick tip, and Sporting Gift, going very well, ran the full distance in 1.25. Peach King's time for the five furlongs was 1.11 3-5. Sporting Gift has not raced for some time, but he is to resume at Otaki and the race should sharpen him up for Trentham. Bridegroom (Brown), Girl Pat (S. Waddoll) and All Blood (Stewart) were not asked_ to do better than 15s to the furlong in working gallops over a mile. Parian (Stewart) covered three furlongs in 40 l-ss, ■ White Gold - (Miss White) was not after time over five, and Classform (Tattersall) was timed to run three in 42 2-ss, the pace being on only down the straight. HURDLERS AT HAWERA SILK SOX AND DISTURBED ! Oh the ouside of the course proper tho going was very heavy. Notium (Sexton) and Winsome Lu (Rilcv) were companions over six furlongs run in 1.22 1-5, the first three taking 39 2-ss. Notium appeared to be going the better, but Winsome Lu, who is usually a lazy track galloper, was not ridden out. L. E. George stated this morning that, owing to difficulty in arranging transport, he might not attend tho Otaki meeting with Winsome Lu. Professional (Prisk) infused dash into a three-furlong sprint at the conelusion of two rounds of pace work on the sand. Ho recorded 38s. He is difficult to keep conditioned. Silk Sox and Disturbed encompassed a mile and a-quartcr at a working gallop. Ridden bv J. Toki, both horses gave their usual good displays when schooled over nine hurdles yesterday morning. Silk Sox is to contest the High-weight Handicap on the second day and the Winter Hurdles at Trentham. while Disturbed may be reserved for the Winter Hurdles only. Amoroso and Viracious were allotted a similar task over seven furlongs. The latter is booked for the Trentham meeting. Student Prince ricked a hind joint during the week-end and the injured leg has swollen. His proposed trip to Wellington has been cancelled.
