CHILDREN'S CAMPS
ALLOCATION OF £IOOO HEALTH STAMP PROCEEDS The sum of £IOOO was received this year from the Health Stamp campaign, according to a report presented at the final meeting of the Auckland Central Council, National Children's Health Camp, yesterday. This sum will be divided between the health camps at Motuihi and Campbell's Bay. The total number of children dealt with during the year was 1422, the greater proportion of whom attended the camp at Motuihi. About 700 were from country districts, half of this number being from centres in North Auckland. Many of the North Auckland children were Maoris. It was reported that £2OO had been raised for the Sir George Richardson memorial, which will take the form of a dormitory in the permanent' health camp when this is established. Members of the council interviewed the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, with regard to the proposed site of the permanent camp. They were advised that the approval of the Director-General of Health would be hc-cessary before any final decision could be made.
