MILITARY CHANGES
AUCKLAND OFFICERS PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS A number of appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces is announced in the Gazette. Several of the changes concern members of the New Zealand Staff Corps. It is announced that ns from April 16 Major li. D. Mr-Hugh relinquishes the appointment of assistant adjutant and quartermaster-general, northern military district. Major W. Murphy relinquishes the post of commandant, Northern Military District School of Instruction. Narrow Neck, to replace Major McHurli, and Major 0. Dittmcr, area staff officer, No. 1, Area, Auckland, becomes commandant of the Narrow Neck School of Instruction.
Captain E. L. G. Bown relinquishes the. appointment of adjutant, Army School of Instruction, Trentlinm, is seconded to the New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps, and. appointed ordnance officer, Main Ordnance Depot, Trentham. Captain V. J. Tunes, adjutant, Ist Composite Battalion, and assistant area officer. No,. 1. Area, Auckland, replaces' Captain Bown at Trentham. .Captain R. F. Johnston. New Zealand Dental Corps, is ap-pointed--Assistant Director of Dental Services, northern military district, and is granted the temporary rank of major. In the Regiment of New Zealann Artillery. Captain C. A. X. Pilchcr is transferred from the reserve of. officers and posted to the Ist Artillery Brigade Group, attached to headquarters, northern militarv district, for dntv as publicity officer. Captain 11. R. McGregor. of the Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles, is transferred to the New Zealand Scottish Regiment. In the Auckland Regiment,. Captain D. McF. Rae is posted to the retired list, and Major (Quartermaster) L. M. Blvth is transferred to the reserve of officers, Second-Lieutenants H. R Anderson, G. C. Kirk and C. PT Hirst are to be lieutenants. Seeniid-Liotiten-ants W. H. Cooper and R. W. Rae, of the 2nd Cadet Battalion, are to he lieutenants. A similar promotion has been awarded to Second-Lieutenant >T. Pvhns, 3rd Cadet Battalion. SooondLieutenants (on probation) F. Schlup, J. M. Scobie, K. S. Turtill and L. Adams ace posted to the 3rd' Cadet Battalion.
Captain B. R. Penlington. of the Hauraki Regiment, is seconded to the Ist, Composite Battalion, to bo major. In the North Auckland Regiment, the appointments of Second-Lieutenants Con probation) A. L. Litt and W. E. King are confirmed. Mr. D. W. Lawson is to be second-lieutenant, on probation, and is posted to tlio Ist Cadet Battalion.
