NEW SEASON'S STYLES
CONTRAST IN SUITS SWING SKIRTS POPULAR Highlights of tho new season's styles were discussed, and examples for day and evening wear shown, at tho fortnightly business girls' luncheon, which took place yesterday. It was stated that the most popular of the new shades would he Havana tan, valley nnd forest greens, sienna rust, and all mulberry tonings.
Square shoulders, tightly fitting waistlines and swing skirts were featured for all types of clothes. 1 ( or suits action backs were still popular, and many suits were shown with fancy tops and plain skirts. This year, it was stated, it was possible to obtain matching accessories in many, unusual shades, and many smart suits were shown with accessories to match the relief featured ill tho patterned coats and waistcoats. Coats were to be worn either with flat fur trimming, or untrimmed. The coats showed the swing style with the fitting waistline, or they were swung fully from the shoulders. That this was to be another colourful season was proved by the many bright stripes and checks which appeared in woollen frocks and suits, and made especially evident in sports clothes. Dressing gowns followed closely on the lines of everyday clothes, and were cut mainly on the house coat pattern. Made either of silk, warmly lined, or of soft woollen materials, these attractive garments were far removed from the" loosely fitting negligees of the past. The importance of accessories for all occasions was shown by a careful choice of matching belts and slippers.
