THROWN FROM CAR

SUDDEN OPENING OF CAR DRIVER BREAKS HIS ARM £from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE. Monday To b© thrown out of his car and injured was the experience of Mr. B. J. Elliott, aged 24, single, of Birch Road, Pukekohe, last night when driving home alone from Auckland. On the car rounding the first bend south of the Karaka school, the door on the driver's Bide suddenly flew open and Mr. Elliott was unable to save himself from being thrown out on to the road. His right arm was broken and he also suffered a cut on the forehead. The car continued on and hit a telegraph pole about nine inches thick, snapping it off at the base. This did not stop the vehicle and it went about another 10 yards into the road fence, which brought it to a standstill. After being attended by Dr. A. T. Begg, of Pukekohe, Mr. Elliott was taken to the Auckland Hospital and was admitted with a fractured right arm, abrasions and shock. His condition to-night was not regarded as serious. The car was extensively damaged.
