ENGINEERS' CONFERENCE
NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTION ASSEMBLY IN CITY TO-DAY Delegates from all parts of New Zealand will attend the 25th annual conference of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers, which will open in Auckland to-day and continue throughout the week. Meetings, over which Mr. S. Irwin Crookes will preside, will be held at Auckland University College during the first three days, and Thursday and Friday have been reserved lor excursions and visits to various engineering works. After assembling at the college this morning, delegates will be welcomed by the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, and by Mr. W- H. Cocker, president of tho college. The annual meeting wjll then begin and will continue during the afternoon. At subsequent meetings papers will be read and discussed. Papers to be eiven cover a wide scope and include the following:— "Hawke's Bay Floods," by Mr. A. P. Grant; "Extraordinary Flood Discharges near Gisborne," by Mr. O. G. Thornton; "He-conditioning Waitakere Pipe Line," by Mr. B. L. Hamilton; "Modern Developments in Metals for Engineering Purposes," by Professor S. E. Lamb; "Reinforced Concrete Poles," by Mr. J. R. Marks; "Roading in Tauranga County," by Mr. A. H. Benham; "Cold Plant Mixtures for Maintenance and Correction of Road Surfaces," by Mr. A. D. Paterson.
Tho annual conversazione will be held at Milne and Choyce's Reception Hall to-morrow night. On Wednesday evening the presidential address will be delivered. Arrangements hare been made for the entertainment of wives of delegates.
