FAVOURED COURSE CAREER OF FARLAND SIX VICTORIES AT TE RAPA HAS NOT WON ELSEWHERE When ho won the President's Handicap at the Waikato Racing Club's Summer Meeting at Te Rapa on Saturday the sprinter Farland scored his sixth win in eight starts on the course. He was unplaced in his first start thro-.' years ago and ran third to Bachelor King and Te Monowai in the Flying Handicap at the Waipa Racing Club's meeting held at Te Rapa. Farland opened his winning account in the Ohinewai Hack Handicap at the Waikato spring meeting of 1937. and he followed that up with a success in the Otorohanga Handicap at the club's winter meeting. He raced only once more that season, when unplaced at the Great, Northern meeting,

Last season began auspiciously with a victory in the Taupiri Hack Handicap at the Waikato spring meeting, ancl, after four defeats, he returned a winner in the Stewards' Handicap, at the winter fixture, three defeats following. The Cambridge Handicap at the TV Ha pa spring meeting was his first race of the current season and lie won it convincingly. Although he had been placed twice in the interval, Saturday's race in the President's Handicap further proved his partiality for the To Rapa course, the only one on which, so far, he has been successful. In three soasons Farlaiid has had six wins, two seconds and one third for £1456 in prize-money.

STEWARDS' INQUIRY

ADJOURNED UNTIL TO-DAY RUNNING OF MALAGIGI Following the running of the Storey Memorial Handicap at the Waikato Racing Club's meeting at Te Rapa on Saturday an inquiry was instituted into the running of the each-way favourite Malagigi, who finished seventh. Tho judicial committee sat for a time hearing evidence in the evening and then decided to adjourn the inquiry until after tho first race to-day. FULL-BROTHERS WIN SCOTLAND AND ODTAA It is not often that full-brothers are successful on the same day, but such was the case when Scotland won the Storey Memorial Handicap and Odtaa the Trial Stakes at To Rapa on Saturday. The horses were bred by Mr. N. R. Souter, of Cambridge, and are by Acre from Bonny Mabel, by Robert tho Bruce from Little Mabel, by Medallion from Kilmorey (imp.), by Kilwarlin. Scotland has been a line performer on Auckland courses and his return to the winning list at his last two starts after being out of form for a long period has been a pleasing feature of the recent racing. Odtaa is only a three-year-old and looks to have a bright future. He bears a strong resemblance to Scotland.

INJURED JOCKEY S. WILSON RECOVERING' Racing people will be pleased' to learn that the Trentham horseman S. Wilson is well on the road to recovery from the serious accident ho met with at Otaki in early December. It is unlikely, however, that he will bo riding again for some weeks yet. Wilson fell with Barabbas in the maiden event at the Otaki meeting after travelling a furlong. This was his first start since he suffered a fall with Rakahanga at the finish of the Stewards Handicap at Riccarton on New Zealand Cup day. Wilson does not intend to take any chances this time, and is making sure of a complete recovery before he accepts any riding engagements. He looks well and has derived much benefit from his enforced holiday.
