ANIMALS IN THE ZOO

Sir, —I read with appreciation the remarks of your correspondent, "A Lover of Animals," re animals in zoos. It has always appalled me that human beings (each so definitely a lover of his own freedom) can watch with interest - these miserably-restricted creatures. I myself have long since shunned zoo?, etc.

The whole idea of caging living things whose very birthright is the freedom of the land and air depresses me greatly. In these days of moving pictures (complete with sound) the zoo serves no educational purpose, nor is it an interesting novelty for children. They see nothing (or very little) in a zoo that they do not see in news pictures, and not many children are kept awav from "the pictures." Zoo Abolishes.
