LEVEL CROSSINGS

INADEQUATE WARNINGS NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT The desirability of improving warning devices at level crossings in and around Auckland is being placed before the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. 1?. Seniple, by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.

Information given at a meeting of the council of the chamber yesterday stated that a recent survey of 16 such crossing!! within 10 miles of Auckland on the western side showed that five had no white-St. Andrew's Cross signals and two were only partially protected, while in a number of cases the crosses were obscured by poles, vegetation or other obstacles.
