BANK OFFICERS

ME. E. A. CAMERON NEW ZEALAND INSPECTOR MR. H. I. THODEY RETIRING AUCKLAND STAFF PROMOTIONS The appointment is announced of Mr. E. A. Cameron, manager of the Auckland branch of the Bank of Australasia, as inspector for New Zealand in succession to Mr. H. I. Thodey, of Wellington, who will retire on April 10 after 4*l years' service with the bank in Australia and Now Zealand. Mr. 11. G. Bennett, accountant at the Auckland branch, will succeed Mr. Cameron as manager, and Mr. J. T. Butler, sub-accountant at Auckland, will succeed Mr. Bennett as accountant.

Mr. Thodey, •who has been inspector for New Zealand with headquarters in Wellington for the past seven years, joined the bank in 1895 at Melbourne. Before taking up his present position he was manager of the bank at Gisborne. Mr. Cameron lias been manager of the Auckland branch since 1936. He joined the bank in 1903 at Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, and in 1909 was transferred to Ipswich, Queensland, where he remained for approximately four years. Mr. Cameron next served in Sydney until 1927, with the exception of two and a-half years spent in France with the Australian Imperial Forces. In 1927 he was transferred to Forbes, New South Wales, as branch manager. He. was there for two and a-lialf years, and then went to .manage the branch at Orange, New South Wales.

After a time as a sub-inspector in New South W r ales and Queensland, Mr. Cameron was appointed branch manager at Wanganui in 1932. He will leave Auckland for Wellington in about a week.

Mr. I?. G. Bennett, who has been appointed manager at Auckland, joined the bank in 1905 at Ballarat and returned there after serving at Castlemaine, Katamatite and Nathalia. Ho was on active service with the Australian Imperial Forces for four years and then came to New Zealand. Mr. Bennett served at Wellington and Christcllurch and as a member of the relieving staff between 1918 and 1921. For the next five years he was attached to the Auckland branch, and then for four years was branch manager at Rotorua. He lias been accountant at Auckland since 1930.
