MR. D. C. FRASER RETIRES THE NEW SUPERINTENDENT The retirement of Mr. D. C. Fraser, superintendent of police, at Auckland, takes place to-day. His successor, Mr. J. Cummings, will arrive bv the limited express this morning from Palmcrston. North. Mr. Cummings probably is the youngest, superintendent in the history of the New Zealand police force. _ The new superintendent's career lias been noteworthy for his earlv promotion and subsequent rapid rises to the position he now holds. Apart from his undoubted qualities as investigator and administrative officer, Mr. Cummings has the reputation of being a just man, and from the viewpoint or the public of Auckland he is known as a pleasant personality.
