ENGINEERING AWARD
NEW ZEALANDER'S SUCCESS EXAMINATION DISTINCTION [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT^ GISBORXE, Thursday Advice has been received that Mr. C. B. Horning, assistant engineer at the Public Works Department's camp at Kopuawhara, has been awarded the Bayliss Prize of the Institute of Civil Engineers, London. The award is made annually to tho entrant securing the highest percentage of marks in the examination for admission as an associate member of the institute.
The examination is open to candidates from all parts of the world who are able to submit proofs of professional standing, so that to secure tho Bayliss Prize is a distinction of considerable importance. Among New Zealandcrs who have won the prize in former years is Mr. A. J. Baker, assistant-engineer-in-chief of the Public Works Department.
