PAINTERS' CONFERENCE

BUSINESS ENDS TO-DAY The annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Master Painters, Decorators and Sign writers' Association, which began on Monday, will conclude to-day. The principal item on the agenda, yesterday was a remit dealing with black smut, destructive to newly-painted exteriors, and delegates adjourned the conference to visit several places affected. It is expected that remedial measures will be discussed to-day. Delegates were entertained at a smoke concert last- night, when the value of closer co-operation between the allied trades, the painters' federation and the Employers' Association was emphasised by several speakers.
