who some time ago obtained leave to swear her husband's death on the ill-fated flight from England to Australia in November, 1935.

Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith and Mr. J. T. Pethybridge left Lympne for an attempt on the England-Australia record in a Lockheed-Altair monoplane on November 6, 1935, but after passing over Calcutta the following day they were not seen again. Wreckage found on the southern coast of Aye Island, near Burma, in May, 1937, was positively identified as part of Sir Charles' machine. Lady Kingsford-Smith was married on December 3, 1937, to Mr. Alan Tully, executive officer in Australia and New Zealand of the Ethyl Corporation.
