NORTHCOTE BOROUGH
A further grant of £.'3o for reforming and surfacing paths in the Northcote Scenic Reserve in Kauri Gully was notified at the meeting last night of the Northcote Borough Council by tlic-deputy-Oommissipner of Crown Lands at Auckland. An all-round improvement at Northcote and Birkenhead in the observa-ice of traffic regulations was reported by the traffic inspector of the Transport Department at Auckland. Close supervision had been givni to the parking of vehicles at the wharves and in the main streets. %
Thv waterworks' engineer reported that during January 4,786,000 gallons of water had booh uf-ed, which was 25,500 gallons loss than in the same month last voar. A donation of £'2 2s was made to the Xortheote and llirkenhead regatta committee. It was decided to co-operate un the metropolitan arrangements for the National Fitness Week, and to contribute £2 10s toward expenses. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, and Messrs. W. K. Aspden and AY. Morrison were appointed to represent tht> council on the district committee which is being set up under the Physical Welfare and Kecreation Act, 19J7.
