In "More Caviare and Afore Candy" Lady Martineau follows up her previous successes Avitli a rookorv book which is intended, for tho most part, for young married people. Since sho is an advocate of simple meals, perfectly cooked, and balanced menus, this hook cannot fail to appeal to the young housewife who looks for encouragement and advice. Although one seems to detect in Lady Martineau a continental approach to cookery, she has no prejudices against, the methods used in the United States. She points out the | variety that canned goods provide out I of season and in emergency, favours ; the informal type of meal so popular j with American hostesses, and gives a i helpful little chapter on the technique j of managing a supper party single- : handed with the aid of a chafing-dish.
