DISPUTE WITH MEN NO SEATS IN A BUS DEMAND FOR PAY REFUSED COMRADES FORFEIT WAGES [by telegraph—own correspondent] GREYMOUTH, Monday Because two miners to-day failed to secure seats in a bus, the James State coal mine at Rapahoe, near Groymouth, with an average daily output of 200 tons, was idle to-day, and 80 men loat £llO in wages. Four or five buses convey the miners daily from Runanga to the mine, a distance of three miles, and it is the custom for the last bus to be occupied by miners who live at Greymouth and reach Runanga by train. Because a number of new men have been employed recently, the bus accommodation was taxed Dissatisfaction about the matter among the miners from Greymouth reached the peak this morning, When they found some seats occupied by Runanga miners. Two Greymouth men who failed to secure seats refused to stand and the bus left without them. At the mine a request was made that the two men concerned be- paid their wages for the day. The management refused this request and ail the miners returned to their homes.
