ITALY AND JAPAN r io ; Independent Cable Service (Received December SO, 12.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 29 The Daily Express says the world production of staple fibre in 1938 set a-- new record with an estimated |o,tal of 858,000,0001b., compared with ss,ooo,ooolb. in 1937 and 20,000.0001b. in. 1932. r ..?fhe increase in production is most marked in Germany, Italy and Japan, :ivhere. the reduction of wool consumption by some 700,000 bales between 1933 and 1937 is- almost entirely due to the development of staple fibre.
