JAPANESE SECRETS TWO RUSSIANS INDICTED ESPIONAGE ALLEGATIONS (Received December 22, 5.5 p.m.) LOS ANGELES. Dec. 21 A Federal Grand Jury lias indicted two Russians, Mikhail Gorin and Hafis Salich, on charges of espionage. There are • three counts against each man. They will be arraigned on December 26. The two Russians were arrested on charges of having stolen secret American information regarding Japan's naval and military strength and passed it on to the Soviet. Gorin was tho local manager of Intourist Bureau (tlio Soviet travel agency) at Los Angeles, and Salich, a Russian-born American citizen, was connected with the United States secret services. A spokesman for tho Federal Bureau of Investigation (tho G-men), said: "They stole all our secret information on the Japanese Army and Navy and converted it to Russia's tise. They let ns do all the work and hoped to reap all the benefit." Salich, who is 35, was a United States naval intelligence officer at San Pedro naval base and had access to dat:t on Japan, which the G-men said were of the utmost value to Russia. He is alleged to have supplied this to Gorin, a former Soviet Consular , official.
