TWO FAST SPRINTERS VALIMEEN, POCKET VENUS SOLID TASK GIVEN ROUND UP There was somo smart galloping on the grass at. Takanini yesterday, the going being good. Valimeen's effort was creditable. tJi N. Vaughan in the saddle she covered live furlongs in 1.2 .'s-5, alter running her first furlong in 12 2-5s and two in 24 4-ss. She will probably race in some open sprint at Ellerslio and should make matters interesting for at least five furlongs. The two Auckland Cup candidates Round Up and Parquet were indulged in mile and a-quartcr tasks, Round Up (Smith) running the distance in 2.12 without a companion, and l'arquet (Clifford) in 2.13, with Inquisitor (Vaughan) assisting over the last six furlongs, which took 1.18 3-5. Parquet ran her last mile in 1.45 and her last half-mile in 52 3-ss. Round IJp ran his last six furlongs in 1.18 3-5 and his last half-milo in 525, and finished his task well. VALAMITO AND HOT BOX SEVEN FURLONGS RUN IN 1.30. .Valamito (McTavish) and Hot Box (Cameron) were at close quarters at the finish of seven furlongs run in 1.30, the first quarter in 2(35. three in 38 3-5s and the half-mile in 50 4-ss. Valamito worked well. There was not much between Anion (Smith), J liver (Jkirtle) and Arvakur (McTavish) at the end of six furlongs, the last five of which took 1.3 2-5. Lady Fox (Clifford) finished some lengths in front of Chief Scout (Stratton) over three furlongs run in 37 l-ss. The first furlong was run in 13 3-ss, and two in 26 2-ss. Miss Eureka (Coleman) and Gay Opal (G. Smith) covered half a mile in company in 49 3-ss, the first furlong in 12 2-5s and two in 24 3-ss. Orelio, although at walking exercise, was not galloped, while Te Poto was noticed exercising freely off the galloping track. Horses to work on the plough included GladynCv, Bachelor King, Dauber, Penzance, Maxain, Romani, Bronze Trail and Bronwen. Anopheles has been scratched for the Great Northern Foal Stakes and Criterion Handicap engagements and it is doubtful whether she will face the barrier during the Ellersliy carnival.
