NORTH SHORE WATER
SUGGESTED COMMISSION DEVONPORT OPPOSED A decision to oppose the proposal of the Takapuna Borough Council for a commission to inquire into the North Shore water supply was made at a meeting of the JJevoiipdrt Borough Council last night. It was stated that arrangements had already been made for a conference of local bodies/ at which the Under-Secretary of internal Affairs, the medical officer of health and representatives of the Public Works Department would be present. A request for a commission had been made by tho Devonport Borough Council last M*rch, but this had been declined by the Minister of Internal Affairs, 011 tho grounds that, as the commission could only make recommendations, it would be finally left to the local authorities- to take action.
