ESCAPE FROM PRISON

FURTHER CHARGES PENDING fBY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday A man who escaped from Wi Tako prison at Trentham, Allay Roy Duff, of detectives in a plantation behind the Wellington fever hospital about 5.30 p.m. yesterday, appeared in the Police Court to-day, charged with escaping from custody. Duff was romanded until to-morrow, the police stating that a charge of breaking, entering and. theft and another of unlawfully converting a car would be preferred against nim. Duff escaped from the Wi Tako prison on Monday night by removing the floor boards in his cell and making his way under the building to the open.
