FARM MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT'S INNOVATION VALUE DEMONSTRATED The value of instruction in.farm management by means of motion pictures was demonstrated at a luncheon held yesterday at the Westfield works of W. and R. Fletcher, by the Department of Agriculture, which has- " adopted this method with success. ■ Two films tore shown, depicting the breeding and care of livestock and emphasising the benefits of steps to prevent the spread of disease among various kinds of stock. The screening was followed with interest by about 300 farmers and others interesed in the primary industries. One of the films was a "talkie," a commentary providing 'much useful information for the audience. ' \ The, acting-Director of i Agriculture, Mr. E. J. Fawcett, said that instruction hy means of films was a new development in the activities of . the department. Already five projecting machines had been acquired and it was hoped to build up a complete • library of films to cover the whole processes of farm management.' "We hope at an early date to have a complete service in each district, where we can carry out this class of » demonstration through the department's instructors," added Mr. Fawcett. Appreciation of the assistance being given to the primary industry by the department's officers was expressed by several speakers. • .'
