AFRICAN COLONIES
CLAIMS OF GERMANY BRITISH PUBLIC OPINION (Received October 28, 7.40 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 28 The News Chronicle publishes results of a further nationwide survey of public opinion ' undertaken by the British Institute of Public Opinion. The questions were: (1) "Are you in favour of giving back any of the German colonies-?" Fifteen per cent answered "yes" and 85 per cent "no." (2) "If your answer to the above is 'no,' would you rather fight than give them back?" Seventy-eight per cent said, "yes," and 22 per cent, "no." The suggestion made in turope that Germany may be given her former colonies in West Africa is arousing anxiety here, saj's the Washington correspondent of the Associated Press. If the Reich secured any of the numerous small colonies lining the western bulge of Africa her road to South America would be made much easier.
