TERM EXPIRING

abbitbation work SECOND COURT TO CEABE OTHER DUTIES FOR JUDGE The Second Arbitration Court will automatically cease to exist as from November 22, stated the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, yesterday. When it was established, he said, it was only as a temporary measure for one year, and that year would expire on November 22. Mr. Armstrong said that it was not the present intention of the Government to continue with the Second Court, although its president, Mr. Justice Hunter, would continue as an active member of the Judiciary. His was not a temporary appointment, and bo he would be transferred to the Supreme Court. _ "The Minister of Justioa, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason," continued Mr. $ Armstrong, "has assured me that he has any amount of work for Mr. Justice Hunter to do." It was not anticipated, Mr. Armstrong said, that Arbitration Court work would suffer as a result of the Court going out of existence. The industrial magistrate, Mr. .J. A. Gil- , mour, was doing excellent work and was relieving the Court of much work which formerly had helped to delay the promulgation of awards. To avoid delays it might be necessary to appoint a second industrial magistrate, but the Minister could not sav definitely that such a step would be taken.
