BRIDE WHO WAITED

DEATH STOPS REUNION For ten years Mrs. John Roberts, of Leeds, waited to see the husband from whom she had been separated since a year after their wedding. On the eve of the reunion she was cheated—by death. Regularly through the years, at her home in Aysgarth Road, Mrs. Roberts received letters from her husband, who had been sent to work in Southern Rhodesia. A few weeks ago news came that he was on his way home. She hastened to Southampton to welcome him at the quayside as the liner berthed. Eagerly she scanned the faces of the disembarking passengers. The last one crossed the gangway—and still no sign of .John. Anxiously she went aboard the liner to make inquiries. The captain told her that her husband had been seized with illness during the voyage, and had died a few days before the ship reached Southampton.
