NEW COURSE RECORD f GALLOWAY'S FINE PLAY ROUND AT ROTORUA LINKS [BY TELEGRAPn —OWN CORRESPONDENT] ROTORUA, B'riday A remarkable card was returned today by T. Galloway, professional to the Rotorua Golf Club, with a pcoro of 63, which was a record for tho course. The par figure is G9.

Galloway went out in 32 and came home in 31. His round included eight threes and two twos. At the 17th ho missed an eightfoot putt for a two, eventually taking four. His card was:— Out: 4 3 3 4 52 5 3 3—32 In: 54333234 4—31 Galloway has entered for the open Now Zealand championship at Dunedin, commencing on November 10. AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB OPEN DAY COMPETITIONS Tho Auckland Ladies' Golf Club held an open day yesterday, when some very interesting play was witnessed on a course in excellont order. A inedul round was held in»the morning and Canadian bogey foursomes were decided in the afternoon. The results wero:— Best Gross Score.—Mrs. J. M. Alison, 81. Net Medal Hound.—Mrs. A. M. Grant, 87, 17—70; Miss E. White, 87,' 10—71; Mrs. G. C. Henderson, 01, 17 —74;' Mrs. G. Pickthall, 89, 15—74. The best scores in the foursomes were:— Miss C. Rainger and Miss N. Noakes, Mrs. A. W. Rushton nnd Mrs. A. M. Grant, Mrs. G. R. Buttle and Mrs. W. S. Spence, all 1 down. Misses Rainger and Noakes won on a count-back. The putting prize was won by Mrs. G. F. Ferguson with 20 for 12 holes. AUSTRALIAN PLAYER The well-known Australian golfer, H. W. JTattersley, passed through Auckland yesterday on the Montcroy. It was understood that Hattersley would he a competitor at tho New Zealand golf championship tournament at Dunedin, but ho stated yesterday that he much regretted he would be unable to take part. Hattersley competed in the Dominion championship at Hamilton last year, being defeated in the semi-finals by B. M. Silk, who won the title.
