HUGE COST OF WAR
FRESH JAPANESE LOAN BONDS FOR £2,940,000 TOTAL REACHES £223,000,000 (Received October 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 24 The Japanese Government to-morrow will issue bonds to the value of £2,940.000, which will bring the total for Chinese war expenditure to £223,000,000. The Peiping provisional Government, says the Peking correspondent of the Times, has prohibited the export of sheep, wool and hemp from North China, since the Japanese Army needs all the available wool. The order chiefly affects German traders.
