WEIGHT-CARRYING FEATS

ARLINGTON'S PERFORMANCES It is seldom nowadays that horses are wcightod as heavily as 13.0, And memories of fine weight-carrying feats of the past wero revived when Erination won the Manukau Hurdles with that impost at Ellerslie on Monday. It was the heaviest weight, that Ims been carried to victory at Ellerslie since No Surrender won the" Hunters' Steeplechase at tho spring .meeting in 19.19 with 13.0. Another good performance of tho past*at Ellerslie was when Kiatere Avon the Great Northern Steeplechase in 1907 with 12.13.

Some fine weight-carrying feats were recorded by Arlington, a chestnut gelding by Signalman from Noll Gwynnb, at tho Groymonth summer mooting in the 1919-20 season. On the first day lie won tho First Hurdles with 13.0, on the second day ho won the Second Hurdles with 13.13, and on the final day he was third in the Third Hurdles with 15.7, which must be one of tho heaviest weights ever carried by a horse in a race in tho Dominion.
