Lady Gunson left by air yesterday for Palmerston North.

Miss M. J, Goughl/in, of Wellington, is at the Central Hotel.

Mrs. C. McDowell, of Mac Murray Road, Hemuera, left recently to visit Australia.

Miss Margaret Ewen, of Hemuera, will leave for Wellington by motorcar to-morrow.

Miss 11. D. Montague, who has been studying in Dargaville for some days, has returned to Auckland.

Mrs. L. .Russell, of Victoria Avenue, Hemuera, will Jeave to-day to spend a short holiday in Wellington.

Miss L. Punch, of Woodlcy Avenue, Hemuera, returned on Tuesday by the Matua from a visit to the islands.

Mrs. G. Almond (Timaru), Miss L.Lang (London), and Miss McDowall (Wellington), are at the Station Hotel.

Mrs. R. S. Thomson, formerly of Auckland, is visiting her mother in Wanganui, before going on to AVellington, where sho will in future live.

Miss Gay Wilson, of Portland Road, liemuera, will leave by motor-car tomorrow for Wellington, where she will be the guest of Mrs. Godfrey Wilson.

Miss Ellen Melville leaves Auckland to-day for Gisborne, where, at the invitation of the Gisborne branch of the National Party, she will give an address.

A meeting of the Castor Bay Women's League of Helpers was held this week. Mrs. Morgan-Richards presided. Aa address on fruit and flower culture was of much interest to members. The competition winner was Mrs. Hawkes. Afternoon tea was served.

The annual ball for children organised by St. Bride's Ladies' Guild, Wa& held in the Otorohanga Town Hall on Tuesday night. About 150 children attended in fancy dress and the scene presented in the hall was very bright and attractive. Toy balloons and paper caps were presented to them and later supper was served in the annex.

Residents of the Maihiihi district held a largely attended social evening in the local hall for the purpose of furthering the candidature of Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. ; for the Waitomo electorate. Items were contributed by the Ralph Sn>ith family, Miss Irvine and Mr. D. B. Millward. At the conclusion of the programme dancing was enjoyed.
