• ' Mrs. Miles Otway, of Te Awamutu, is the guest of Mrs. J. P. May, Arney Road, Remuera. • Mrs. T. W. Sampson (Auckland) and Mrs. T. J. Sheriff (Rotorua) are at the Esplanade Hotel, Devonport. Miss Sydney Lusk, who has been abroad for seven years, will return to Auckland by the Rotorua on Saturday morning. Mrs. B. H. Edkins, of Kerikeri, and Mr. Edkins, will arrive in Auckland today and will spend a few days here before leaving for Wellington. Mrs. J. S. Little (Dunedin), Mrs. A. McLeod, Mrs.,Otterburn (Wellington), and Mrs. N. C. Ellingworth (Dargaville), are at the Station Hotel. Mrs. J. T. Janneson and her niece, Miss Joan Herdman, of Auckland, have, been touring in Scandinavia, wrote our London correspondent on September 16. They are next going to Ireland. Mrs, Valentine t Smitli, Miss Valerie' Smith (New Plymouth), Mrs. J.' H. Banks, Miss C. Banks, Miss M. Hope (Waikino),-JVlrs. E. la Trobe Hill and Mrs. M. J. Hitchcock (Rotorua) are at the Central, Hotel. There was a large attendance at the weekly dance held by the social committee of the Takapuna Citizens' Band recently. Popular numbers were flayed by the .band's orchestra. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Betty Holland and Mr. Leon Wright. There was a good attendance of members and friends at the meeting of the Methodist Women's Club, presided over by Mrs. E. T. Olds in the Pitt Street parlour. A travel talk by Mrs. S. 0. English, in which the speaker gave a vivid word picture of her recent tour of the United States, England and the Continent, proved both interesting and instructive. Particularly so Was her reference to Munich, in view of the recent momentous happenings there. Study groups were also held.
