HOSTESS AFTERNOON

BIRKENHEAD METHODISTS CHURCH FUNDS AIDED A hostess afternoon, held yesterday by the ladies of the Birkenhead Methodist Church, was largely attended and was a very enjoyable function. The 250 guests were welcomed by Airs. H. H. Jeffreys, .who presided. The entertainment programme included pianoforte solos by Airs. J. Letcher, soprano solos by Airs. 10. Xeal, contralto solos by All's. T. AlcKnight, and elocutionary numbers "by Air. Peter Dbrrian. The accompanist was Airs. J. Letcher. The principal hostesses were:—Airs. Alan Wilson, Airs. G. B. Hewsou, Airs. A. AVoodhams, Airs. A. Clow. Airs. H. Chappell, Airs. W. Hiibball. Mrs. J. Hall, Airs. C. Lewis, Airs. A. Had field, Airs. G. Haylock, and Airs. L. T. Hayman. They were assisted by many helpers. The sum of over £'l6 was raised for the church fund.
