COAL MINERS' STRIKE
CONFERENCE ARRANGED REQUEST FROM FEDERATION (Received September 29, 1.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept, 2S There was an unexpected development in the coal miners' strike to-night, affording bright hopes of a settlement. Representatives of the Miners' Federation and other unions asked the New South Wales Minister of Labour, Mr. A. Mair, to convene a conference "of the parties in the dispute in the hope of effecting a settlement. The Minister promptly agreed to the conference, which will be held in his office next Tuesday. An earlier message concerning the strike appears on page 17.
