AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP The Auckland Provincial amateur snooker championship for Hip Billiards, Limited, Cup was advanced a further stage last evening at the showrooms of Messrs. Billiards, Limited. ft. Carrick mct-M. Walker in the first contest. C'arrick commenced by scattering the reds. He potted the black ajut the pink twice nnd his positional play was excellent. Walker secured a black and a blue, but C'arrick was in excellent touch and potted brilliantly to lend by ">S points to '2S with the Inst five balls left. Walker endeavoured to irain points from snookers, but Carrick potted the brown, the blue and the pink in attractive style to win the game. Walker improved in the second game and pained an early lead. Carrick soon evened up the scores, however, and Rat nod thp lead. Carrick potted the brown with the last red and led by <H> points to Mfl.
