AUCKLAND ACTIVITY HARP 0' ERIN GROUP COMPLETION WITHIN MONTH . PROGRESS AT ORAKEI .It is expected that tlio last of the D 3 State houses on the Harp o' Erin Estate will be finished within a month. This group contains a greater proportion of corrugated iron roofs than on nnv of the State settlements elsewhere in Auckland, but the need for this form of roof has now disappeared, supplies of roofing tiles being sufficient for all purposes. The Fletcher Construction Company, Limited, which was the contractor for tlio Harp o' Erin group, has been unable to start on its contract to construct over 60 houses 011 the Cadman Estate, as the building of roads and drains is still progressing, it recently completed, its second Orakei contract of 78 houses, making a total of 287 it has built there, and it should complete. a third contract of 25 houses at Orakei in six to eight weeks. About 20 other houses appear to bo noaring completion at Orakei. So far the Government has not announced any plans for extension at Orakei, where shops are now under construction, and in which it is stated will be embodied a branch post office. At Westuiero good progress is being made/ by the contractor, Mr. A. G. Grinter, with a group of about 40 houses, most of which are now roofed.

ELLERSLIE AND ONE TREE HILL TENDERS FOR 76 DWELLINGS [by TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL KKPOIITEII] - WELLINGTON, Wednesday Advice of further extensions to the Government's housing schemes in the Ellerslie and One Tree Hill districts lias been received by Mr. A. G. Osborne, M.P. for Manukau, from Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secre-tary in charge of Housing. Mr. Lee states that tenders will close •on September 27 for 12 houses in the TJlerslie district and on October 7 for <64 houses to bo erected on tho Cadman Estate, One Tree Hill.
