CORNWALL PARK

BURDEN OF RATES PROPOSAL FOR EXEMPTION PRIVATE BILL IN PARLIAMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] "WELLINGTON, Wednesday With the object of lightening the load of expenditure involved in the maintenance of Cornwall Park, a measure taking the form of a private bill, tho Cornwall Park Trustees Rating Exemption Bill, was introduced in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr. W. P. Endean (Opposition—Parnell).

Mr. Endean said that Cornwall Park was a beautiful and historic reserve, but the liability for the payment of rates was constituting a heavy burden on tho trust. The local authority concerned had consulted its ratepayers, and no objection had been raised to the proposal to exempt tho park from the payment of rates. The bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Local Bills Committee.
