SETTLERS FAREWELLED

MANGATEPARU SOCIAL A social and dance organised as a farewell to Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Hastie, who are leaving Mangateparu, was held in the local hall recently. On behalf of tho settlers Mr. H. S. Herbert presented Mr. and Mrs. Hastie with a silver entree dish, and Mrs. P. Bright well, a past president of the Ladies' Hockey Club, presented them with a silver inscribed table napkin ring each from the club members. Mr. Hastie was one of the original soldier settlers who took up land at Mangateparu in 1919.
