EXPANSION PLANS MISSION IN CANADA EARLY AGREEMENT LIKELY FRENCH TO ERECT PLANT By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 23. 7.55 p.m.) MONTREAL, August 22 An agreement between the British air mission and Canadian aircraft manufacturers for the production of aeroplanes for the Royal Air Force is reported to be near completion. Sir Hardman Lever, head of the mission, has promised to reach a decision within a few days. It is learned from reliable sources, says the Montreal Herald, that French interests, believed to be sponsored by the French Government, have completed plans for the erection of a large aircraft plant near Montreal. Tho paper comments that this move follows the recent conversations between the British an<l French General Staffs.
Tho plant is intended primarily as a reserve source of supply for tho French Air Force. Tho land has already been purchased.
