ARMED HOLD-UP
SUSPECT IN COURT REMANDED UNTIL MONDAY Alleged by the police to bo connected with a robbery at Auckland on August 8, when two men armed with a sawn-off shotgun and a piece of lead piping held tip an attendant of the Atta Service Station, Upper Queen Street, and stole £219 from Ihe safe, a ship's fireman, Harold Last Gray, aged 49, appeared before Mr. C. 11. Orr "Walker, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Accused, who. was arrested in Christchurch last Tuesday, was charged that, on August 8, at Auckland, being armed with a shotgun, he robbed Frank Pickering of a leather brief bag containing £219 9s 9d, the property of the Atta Taxi Company, of Auckland.
On the application of Detective-Ser-geant McHtigh, accused, who was not represented bv counsel and who did not apply for bail, was remanded until Monday. ?
