MAN'S TRAGIC FATE
SUICIDE BY STRANGULATION VERDICT AT THE INQUEST The adjourned inquest into the death of William Frank Quick, photoengraver, aged 54, of Crown Hill, Milford, who died at the Auckland Hospital on July 14, was concluded before Mr. F. K. Hunt, coroner, yesterday. Evidence was previously given that deceased, who was a married man with six children, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital on July 12 and placed in an annexe of ward 2. At 9.30 on the night of July 14, a nurse went in to administer a sedative and found a sheet pulled over his face. She removed the sheet and saw that a handkerchief covered his mouth and a bootlace was tied tightly around his neck. Artificial respiration was given, but deceased failed to respond. According to tho police, there were no suspicious circumstances. . When tho inquest was resumed yesterday, Dr. J. W. Craven, medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, said he saw deceased on two occasions between July 12 and 14. At no time had he exhibited any suicidal tendencies. Tho coroner returned a verdict of suicide by strangulation.
