CANADIAN SWIMMERS
VICTORIES OVER AMERICANS Several of the Canadian swimmers with whom Aucklanders became acquainted on their way to and from the British Kiupire Gaines in Sydney last February were very successful in the Pacific North-west indoor invitation swimming and (living championships, contested at Seattle recently. The Canadians were all members of the Vancouver Amateur Swimming Club, and their victories over the American representatives were a fine achievement, tor themselves and their coach, Mr. P. Norman. Canada's foremost swimming coach. The Seattle swimmers were mostly pupils of Mr. H. Daughters, an outstanding coach in the United States. Events won by Canadians were as follows: -Miss P. Dewar, 220 yards ladies' free-style, 2m IDs: Miss N. Oxenbury. 100 vards ladies' backstroke, lin 15s; Miss' li. Adams, ladies' springhoard diving; Miss J. I-angdon, 100 vards ladies' breastst roke, 1 ill 21s; Misses Dewar. Oxen bury, P. O'Hara and .1. Stanton. 100 yards ladies' relay. lili .'VI .'MOs; MNses Oxenhurv. Langdon and O'Hara. .'IOO yards ladies' medley relay. ,'hn 4.'is; G. Atlians. men's springboard diving; F. Sully, 220 yards men's free-style, 2m ID 3-os; R. Hooper. J. Pomfretti, T. Macauley and F. Sully, 400 yards men's relay.
