INFORMAL MUSIC CLUB

PIANO AND VOCAL ITEMS A varied programme was presented at the monthly meeting held on Thursday night in the Overseas League rooms by the Informal Music Club. The president, Mr. Leo Whittaker, presided. The programme opened with a group of piano solos by Debussy, played by Mr. Whittaker. These were followed by a bracket of vocal trios sung by Mrs. H. P. Mackenzie, Misses E. Macdonald and B. Knight, vocal solos by Mrs. Gwen de Berg and Mr. Dave Lunny, and piano numbers by Mis 9 Bessie Mayo. The programme concluded with an illustrated talk on contemporary composers given by Mr. Owen Jensen. Mr. Jensen selected his illustrations from the works of Goosens, Waldo Warner, Malapiero, Hindemuth, Korngold, Ivor. Gurney and Bela Bartok: Madame Johns proposed a vote of thanks to the speaker for the very interesting half-hour he had arranged.
