TEMPERANCE WORK
YOUNG PEOPLE'S BRANCH Tho 21sfc birthday of tho Auckland central branch of tho Young People's Christian Temperance Union was celebrated recently. The Newton East Mission Hall was decorated with flowers, ferns and blue and white streamers. Games and competitions' were enjoyed and supper was served. Greetings were receivd from Mrs. J. Hiett, Mrs. H. Kas per, Miss 10. Appleby Miss Read, . and Mr. A. McClure, officers of the union, and from tho following branches:—Grey Lynn, Fapatoetoe, Warkworth, Leigh and tho Hurahuna Maori girls. A bouquet was presented to Alias Bead, who was shortly to leave on an extended tour. WAIUKU BRANCH Tho monthly meeting of the Waiuku Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently. Mrs. J. K. Hull presided. A presentation was made to Mrs. Anderson, prior to leaving the district. Miss Gilmoro reported nine entries for tho scientific temperance'examination. Mrs. S. West was appointed treasurer. Evening Branch:—The Auckland evening branch of the Women's' Christian Temperance Union met recently at the residence of Mrs. Hugh Kasper. Mrs. J, H. Patterson presided. The temperance fact was given by Mrs. Brown and a paper was read. A solo by Mrs..-Patterson was appreciated.
