OKOROIRE POLL

Sir, —I would like to call your attention to the announcement in the Herald on June 14, re the result of this election. You state in same that "One candidate receives no votes." This is quite correct, but I think it only fair to that candidate, Mr. G. W. Seton, to explain the position to those who are not conversant with the facts. The poll was held following a magisterial inquiry at which the previous ' election was declared void. Mr. Seton' was unable to withdraw his name, and he put an advertisement in the two local newspapers requesting his friends not to vote for him, and the fact of his getting no votes was oh account of these advertisements. Mr. Seton is in hospital undergoing a serious operation to his leg—injuries caused through the war —and I think it only fair that someone should explain the facts to those who are not conversant with them. v Frank Itoss.
