INCOME OF COUPLE RELATION TO BENEFITS WIDENING OF THE SCHEME STATEMENT BY MR. SAVAGE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] MASTERTON, Saturday Brief references to national health and superannuation under the superannuation seheme wero made by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, at a civic reception in Masterton to-day. The scheme was being broadened as compared with the proposals laid before tho Parliamentary Committee, said Mr. Savage. The maximum income for a benefiting married couple was being raised to £4OB a year. That meant that a married couple might have the £3 a week superannuation and anything else they could earn up to £4OB a year. Under the health scheme every household in New Zealand would have medical service at call, continued the Prime Minister. He looked forward to the time when there would bo universal superannuation for everybody in New Zealand. Mr. Savago said ho thought about 80 per cent ot the people would benefit under the superannuation scheme.
