FIELDS REVIEWED

going will be heavy YORK HANDICAP CONTEST VALMINT AND ENGE FANCIED CHANCES OF POWER CHIEF f Even if. the weather remains fine, the going is likely to bo very heavy again for the third day of the Auckland Racing Club's meeting at Ellerslie to-day. Following are details of the fields, with a review of the prospects in each race by "Archer":— 11,44—TAMAKI STEEPLECHASE. Of £350; about 2 1 / a miles st. lb. at. lb. Lucidus ... 11 11 Killadar ... 10 4 Kinkle . . . 11 2 Bells of Bow y 0 Power Chief 10 8 Ground Swell t). 0 London - .... 10 6 United .... 9 0 Form on the first day indicates excellent prospects for Kinkle, London and lucidus, who filled £he places in the Green Lano Steeplechase. Kinkle has been raised 101b., London 51b. and Lucidufl 21W and at the weights there may not be a great deal to choose between them. Power Chief made a deep impression by his victory in the Hunt Club Cup and he is an improving young jumper likely to achieve much higher honours. Killadar should be a distinct possibility if he jumps well, but has not had a great deal of experience over country. Bells of Bow does jjot stay too well and the form of Ground Swell, who foil on the first day, and United has been far from encouraging. The best .supported may be

Celtic Lad may have benefited by his race on the second day and Inness Lad, who was- second to Full of Scotch on the first day,' should be very difficult to beat. On this occasion Inness Lad will meet his victor on 231b. better terms and that should make a great difference. High Star should be capable of 8 creditable effort, but Tahae Mea and Professional will require to show improvement if they are to be conspicuous.- Salesman, who won on the fiat on the -first day, is a good fencer and his speed should take him a long way. With the minimum Salesman should take beating. Chief Lap may improve and Bass, who has not done quite as well as expected, may bo improved with his earlier racing. Some who may find favour are SALESMAN, . '* INNESS LAD. FULL OF SCOTCH. I.I4—YORK HANDICAP, Of £500; 1 milo

Gay Rose has not done well in her starts at_ the meeting and a better prospect should he Valamito, who was second in the King George Handicap. Valamito is a hardy customer who thrives on racing

and does well in heavy going. Malagigi is a possibility, although he would appeal more over a longer distance. Enge did not do as well as anticipated ia the Cornwall Handicap, but was prominent most of the way. The distance should suit him and he may prove /very troublesome. After their forward running in the Cornwall Handicap, in which they were first and second, Clieval de Volee and Valmint make a strong appeal and both Mould run prominently. Knight of Australia and Gold Vaals should perform creditably and others likely to add interest to the contest are Day Wind ®nd Jack Thr, who showed up promi- ■ 2, in the Cornwall Handicap. Tybalt-, Ermlale and Mies Lu may run Creditable races, and other possibilities *re Waitaka and Light Comedy. The favourites may be VALMINT, EN£E. - DAY WIND.

Valpeen are both in winning form and should perform solidly. Royal Mimic may Jbe all the. better for his race on the fij-st day and should go a long, way. although ; thqre is,a suspicion regarding his wind.'Smilin' Thru is safe jumper and solid plodder, while London and Mio Lume should be capable of creditable efforts .with light weights. The,, same applies, -toy Lucidus and Kinkle, but, like London, they are engaged earlier in tho Tamaki Steeplechase. Popular fancies may be ERINATION. VALPEEN. WINDSOR LAD.

If reserved," Erination should take a lot of beating even though he has a solid weight. King's Archer demonstrated by his second to Windsor Lad in the Remuera Hurdles that he is likely to bo an early winner, more especially as he seems to be improvine with each race. Lady England has run creditably at the meeting and should not be without a chance. Kilberis was fourth in the Remuera Hurdles and High Star has shaped respectably among the hack hurdlers. Mio Lume and Killadar have earlier engagements, but should have prospects if reserved. Mia Acrea is on the improve and may shape well. -If Erination is absent, the favourites may be

KING'S ARCHER. 1 KILBERIS, < LADY ENGLAND. 3.29—VISITORS' HANDICAP, • ° Of £400; 6 fur. ' A" st: lb. St. lb. Whirling: . . 3,0 9 Surella ... 8 4 Notittm. Whirling is in fine, form and* in spite of his rise in weight, should make his presence felt. Notium. is a possibility, although .there are others who make a stronger appeal ht the'weights. Trilliarch may. be improved after his race on the first.day. Gay.Seton and Te Monowai were' placed behind Prince Acre in the Members' Handicap and both should ,go well again. Johnny Walls is in good heart and likely to make a solid showing. Surella went a good race on the first day, but is not very solid. Superior Guard and Sweet Rose are likely to make creditable efforts and slight improvement upon her running on the first day would give Land"'Girl a fine chance. Iterepai is improving in condition, but may not be back to form yet; Some likely to find favou* are - ' ; •>

General Ruse is in winning form and a solid weight-carrier. Loombination and Du Maurier have run good races lately and the latter may improve upon his effort in the Carbine Plato. Requiem won the Hack Cup at Hawera last month and revels in soft Koing. Barrister did not do as well as expected in the Carbine Plate, but got a long way back early and may do better. Mai de Mer is racing solidly and Vaalso would have undoubted prospects if he repeated his first day's form. Alyth and Silver Glow may show a little improvement and Hessketoon is in solid condition. Siega, Captain Bruce and Bright Idea are likely improvers and the best of the others may be School Song and Love Parade. The best supported may be REQUIEM, DU MAURIER. MAL DE MER.
