ELECTRIC SHOCK

RADIO OFFICER KILLED CONTACT W4TH 240 VOLTS ENGAGED ADJUSTING PLANT [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Monday

The senior technician at the 3YA wireless transmitting station at Gebbie's Pass, Mr. Robert Bruce Allan, aged 30, was electrocuted some time between 10 o'clock last evening and six o'clock this morning. His body was found at the station shortly after 6 a.m. to-day by another employee, who was taking over. The dead man received a fatal shock of 240 volts while making some adjustments to the equipment, according to Mr. J. McKenzie, the station director. Mr. Allan had been in the service of the National Broadcasting Service for some years. He was married, and is survived by his wife and child, who live at the station. Mr. Allan, who was born in the Whangarei district, arrived in Christchurch less than a month ago to take over. Previously he had been working in Dunedin.
