LARGER HANGAR
GISBORNE REQUIREMENTS UNION AIRWAYS* REQUEST [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] GISBORNE, Wednesday Union Airways, Limited, has approached the Gisborne Borough Council to consider the question of providing suitable hangar accommodation. At last evening's meeting of the council a letter was received from the company pointing out that in the majority of cases the controlling authority provided the necessary hangar space and rest room, for which the company was charged by way of rental for the portion allotted, and for the use of a rest room and offices. A hangar capable, of housing at least two large machines and visiting aeroplanes was needed at Gisborne, and a building of the minimum size of 80ft by 70ft, with an 80ft doorway, was suggested. In addition to the actual hangar, a rest room and workshop should be provided. The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., said that the job would be a very big one, and would entail the spending of a large sum of money. It was decided on his motion to refer the matter to the finance committee, this body to report back to the council.
