IMPROVING HIGHWAY
NGATEA TO PAEROA SECTION A start will be made immediately to seal the shoulders on the bitumenised section of the Pokeno-Pneroa highway between Ngatea and Paeroa, according to ad vice received by tlie Automobile Association (Auckland). The contract has already Jbeen let. When the Main Highways Board took ov er this road as a State highway the waled surface was much narrower than tho standardised highways recently constructed under the hoard's control, and the constant, use of the light scoria shoulders bv motor veliHes when overtaking or passing causes roughness and wholes on the sides of the sealing, * feature conducive to accident.
