JAPAN'S WORLD FAIR
ARRANGEMENTS FOR 1940 INVITATION TO DOMINION [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Thursday With the object of interesting the New Zealand., authorities in the International Exposition of Japan in 1940, two commissioners, Messrs. H. Yamawaki and H. Kawaguchi, with their secretary, Mr. I. Kaifii, arrived to-da.y by the Awatea. The visitors stated that they had ,come officially to invite the New Zealand Government to participate. Japan, they said, was anxious that New Zealand should be represented, with the object of fostering goodwill and the trade of the two countries. On being reminded that the New Zealand Exhibition would also take place in 1940, Mr. Yamawaki gave an assurance that Japan would render anv assistance and co-operation that might be asked of her. He would consnlt with the Consul-General for Japan in New Zealand, Mr. Kuchi Gunji, about the Matter, and would also represent the position to his Government on his return.
The party will visit Auckland beforo returning to Sydney.
